Shreyas Iyer’s Life Saved After Serious Rib Injury in Sydney Match.

Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer had a life-threatening injury during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney. While taking a brilliant catch to dismiss Alex Carey, he hurt his left rib cage, which led to internal bleeding.

After the incident, Iyer was helped off the field and rushed to a hospital, where scans showed a cut (laceration) on his spleen. He was admitted to the ICU for treatment. The BCCI medical team’s quick action and on-ground diagnosis saved his life, according to reports.

The BCCI statement said Iyer is under treatment, medically stable, and recovering well. The team doctor will stay in Sydney to monitor his recovery.

Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, head of the BCCI Medical Panel, reviewed Iyer’s reports and praised the medical team, saying their “timely diagnosis and immediate action saved a life.”

According to reports, Iyer had briefly collapsed in the dressing room after the injury and his vital signs dropped. The medical staff acted fast to stabilise him before taking him to the hospital.

He is now out of danger and has been shifted out of the ICU. Friends are with him in Sydney, and a family member will soon join him once travel arrangements are completed
