A major accident took place near Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh early Friday morning, when a private bus of Kaveri Travels caught fire on National Highway 44. The bus was going from Hyderabad to Bengaluru with 44 passengers on board. Sadly, at least 20 people lost their lives in the fire.
What Happened
According to police, the bus hit a motorcycle on the road. The bike got stuck under the bus and damaged the fuel tank, which caused an explosion. Within minutes, the flames spread all over the vehicle. The bus door jammed due to a short circuit, making it hard for passengers to escape.
Casualties and Survivors
Most passengers were asleep when the crash happened. A few who were awake or woke up managed to escape by breaking the windows. Survivors include two children and two drivers, though the drivers ran away after the accident. Police have started searching for them.
Rescue Efforts
Locals rushed to help after hearing passengers scream for help. Firefighters arrived quickly with four fire engines, but by then, the bus had already burned completely. The injured were taken to Kurnool Government General Hospital for treatment. Most passengers were from Hyderabad.

President
Murmu expressed deep sorrow and offered condolences to the families of those who died. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who was in Dubai at the time, directed officials to visit the site, help the victims’ families, and ensure the best medical care for the injured.
