Ahmedabad: Team India continued their domination on Day 3 of the first Test against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium, riding on the all-round brilliance of Ravindra Jadeja.
Starting the day at 438/5, India declared their innings overnight at 448/5, taking a massive 286-run lead. Jadeja, who scored a fine unbeaten 126, was the star performer with the bat alongside Shubman Gill, who contributed a classy 105.
As West Indies began their second innings, Indian bowlers came out firing. Mohammed Siraj provided the early breakthrough with a sharp short delivery that forced an edge, brilliantly caught by young Nitish Reddy at gully. Soon after, Jadeja struck with his left-arm spin, dismissing opener John Campbell at short leg with a sharply turning delivery.
Jadeja’s precision and control kept the West Indian batters guessing, while Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav maintained relentless pressure from the other end. By lunch, West Indies were reeling at 47/3, still trailing India by more than 230 runs.
The day highlighted Jadeja’s growing stature as one of India’s premier all-rounders. His ability to shift momentum with both bat and ball once again underlined why he remains a match-winner in home conditions.
With two full days remaining and West Indies struggling for stability, India look set for an emphatic victory in the series opener.
