Vaibhav Suryavanshi, just 14 years old, is already being called one of India’s most exciting young cricketers. His journey has been incredible — from making his Ranji Trophy debut at age 12 to becoming the youngest player ever bought in an IPL auction.
The left-handed batter from Bihar proved his talent by performing strongly in the India U-19 team, competing against players much older than him. But it was his brilliant IPL 2025 season with the Rajasthan Royals that made everyone take notice.
After captain Sanju Samson’s injury, Vaibhav got his chance — and he grabbed it. He scored 252 runs in just 7 matches at a strike rate of 206, including a record-breaking 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans — the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history.
He also impressed in international youth cricket, scoring a century against Australia U-19 during their tour down under.
Seeing his rapid rise, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said, “Vaibhav Suryavanshi, this 14-year-old wonder, is knocking at the door to be part of Team India.”
Though India already has many talented batters in the top order, Vaibhav’s performances have ensured that selectors are watching him closely. His journey shows that age is no barrier when talent, hard work, and confidence come together.
