US Clarifies: No New Air-to-Air Missiles for Pakistan.

The US Embassy has confirmed that no new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) will be sent to Pakistan.

This statement comes after some reports claimed that the US was planning to deliver new missiles to Pakistan as ties between the two countries improved.

The embassy explained that the recent US Department of War (formerly the Department of Defence) announcement was not about new missile deliveries, but only an update to an old contract related to maintenance and spare parts.

In a statement, the embassy said:

“The September 30 announcement referred to an amendment of an existing Foreign Military Sales contract for sustainment and spare parts for several countries, including Pakistan. It does not include any new missiles or upgrades to Pakistan’s current capabilities.”

The contract, worth about $2.5 billion, was awarded to Raytheon Company in Arizona for AMRAAM missile models C8 and D3. It involves many countries, such as the UK, Poland, Germany, India’s neighbors like Oman and Saudi Arabia, and others.

The work is expected to be completed by May 2030, but again, no new missiles are being delivered to Pakistan under this agreement.
