‘Ties Never Been Stronger’: US and India Sign Historic 10-Year Defence Framework.

In a major development that highlights the growing partnership between India and the United States, both countries have signed a comprehensive 10-year Defence Framework Agreement aimed at expanding military cooperation and technological collaboration.

The agreement was announced on Friday by US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, who described the partnership as being at its “strongest point ever.” He emphasized that India and the US are now entering a new phase of defence and strategic cooperation, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations.

According to Hegseth, the new framework will focus on joint military exercises, intelligence sharing, advanced defence technology exchange, and co-production of military equipment. It also aims to boost coordination between the armed forces of both nations, especially in areas such as maritime security, cybersecurity, and emerging defence technologies.

The agreement reflects a shared commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and security in the Indo-Pacific region, where both nations have been working closely amid increasing geopolitical challenges.

Hegseth also highlighted that under this framework, India and the US will enhance communication channels, share critical information, and engage in joint research and innovation in defence technologies.

This 10-year pact builds upon the strong foundation laid by earlier agreements such as COMCASA, LEMOA, and BECA, which have enabled deeper operational cooperation between the two countries.

Officials from both sides hailed the deal as a historic step forward, saying it reaffirms the strategic trust and long-term commitment between the world’s largest democracy and the world’s oldest democracy.

The signing of the Defence Framework is expected to further strengthen defence trade, open doors for joint ventures in arms production, and promote regional stability through shared security initiatives.

In Hegseth’s words, “The ties between India and the United States have never been stronger. This agreement is not just about defence — it’s about a shared vision for a secure and free Indo-Pacific.”
