Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar held a meeting with top officials of the South Western Railway to check the progress of important railway projects in the Belagavi region.
1) Belagavi–Kittur–Dharwad New Railway Line
Officials informed Shettar that the land survey is complete except for 16 acres near Dharwad.
Tenders will be invited once the state government hands over the remaining land.
Shettar said he will speak to state officials to speed up this process.
2) Lokapura–Ramadurga–Savadatti–Dharwad Line
The MP checked the status of this new railway line.
A proposal for approval has already been sent to the Railway Board.
Shettar said this line will help thousands of temple visitors and asked officers to push for quick approval.
3) Delay in Second Lane Work at Third Gate, Belagavi
Officials said work is stuck near Level Crossing No. 381 (Third Gate) because traffic diversion permission is pending.
Shettar told them to coordinate with the Police Department and start the work soon.
The General Manager asked teams to visit the spot immediately.
4) Slow Work at Belagavi Railway Station
The Belagavi station is being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, but progress is slow.
Shettar told officials to speed up work on lifts, escalators, and the foot overbridge.
He also asked for fast completion of the new foot overbridge at Ghataprabha Station.
5) Request for New Train Services
Shettar demanded several new and improved train services, including:
Belagavi–Manuguru
Belagavi–Madgaon–Udupi–Mangaluru
Belagavi–Chennai (via Tirupati)
He also suggested:
The Belagavi–Bengaluru Vande Bharat train should leave Belagavi at 6 AM.
The Hubballi–Belagavi–Pune Vande Bharat should run daily instead of only 3 times a week.
