Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar has asked Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to rename the Belagavi Railway Station as Dr. Shivabasava Mahaprabhu Belagavi Railway Station.
Shettar met the minister at the new Parliament House in Delhi. He said the Karnataka government has already sent the proposal to the Union Home Ministry, and even the Railway Ministry has given its comments. According to Shettar, the minister reacted positively and assured that the request from the people of Belagavi will be considered.
Shettar also raised a few other demands:
Change the departure time of the Belagavi–Bengaluru Vande Bharat train from 5:20 am to 6:15 am to make it more convenient for passengers. The minister said the change will be examined.
Start a superfast train on the Bengaluru–Belagavi–Mumbai route.
Approve the survey for a new railway line connecting Lokapura–Ramadurga–Savadatti–Dharwad. The minister assured that approval will be given.
Shettar mentioned that he has also discussed these issues with Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna.
