On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary. Modi said that Gandhi’s life and values continue to inspire the world, showing that courage, simplicity, and truth can bring about great change. He shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Gandhi’s ideals had “transformed the course of human history” and remain a guiding light for humanity.
PM Modi also said that his government is committed to following Gandhi’s principles of service, compassion, and honesty to build a strong, developed, and inclusive India. He highlighted that Gandhi believed service to others was the most powerful way to empower people.
Along with Gandhi, the Prime Minister also paid homage to Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second Prime Minister, whose birth anniversary is also celebrated on October 2. Shastri is remembered for his honesty, simplicity, and his famous slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”, which gave strength to both soldiers and farmers.
October 2 is thus a special day for the nation, as it marks the birth anniversaries of two of India’s most respected leaders, whose teachings continue to shape India’s journey.
