One More Blackbuck Dies at Rani Chennamma Zoo; Total Deaths Rise to 29.

Another blackbuck died today at the Rani Chennamma Zoo in Belagavi, increasing the total deaths to 29 out of 38. Now, only 9 blackbucks are left in the zoo.

Veterinarian Dr. Nagesh said the deaths may be due to a bacterial or viral infection, but the exact reason will be confirmed only after the lab report arrives.

He explained that blackbucks have been dying for the last 2–3 days, and the zoo staff has already given medicines and conducted post-mortems. Samples have been sent to the Bannerghatta Zoo laboratory, and they are waiting for the results.

Dr. Nagesh also assured that the remaining blackbucks do not show any infection symptoms. The zoo has increased monitoring, treatment, and followed full quarantine procedures to protect the surviving animals.
