Rishab Shetty is back with Kantara Chapter 1, the prequel to his 2022 National Award-winning hit. The much-awaited film has now released in theatres.
This movie takes the audience back to the roots of the original story. To make it grand, the makers have added a huge war sequence, created with the help of national and international experts. The scene involves over 500 fighters and 3,000 people.
Directed and written by Rishab Shetty, the film has generated a lot of buzz, especially after its trailer release. Along with Shetty, the movie stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, Gulshan Devaiah, and Pramod Shetty. It is being released worldwide in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English.
Kantara 2 Box Office Predictions
Advance bookings for Kantara Chapter 1 have already crossed ₹12 crore by release eve, with the Kannada version alone earning around ₹7.5 crore.
Trade experts predict the film could earn ₹30–40 crore net on its opening day in India. The Hindi version is expected to contribute around ₹15–17 crore, which is lower than earlier estimates.
Even then, Kantara Chapter 1 is likely to beat most Bollywood releases this year, though it may still fall short of mega pan-India openings like OG and Coolie.
