Cyclone Shakti in Maharashtra: IMD Warns of Heavy Rain Till October 7.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for several districts in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Palghar, till October 7. The rains are due to the formation of Cyclone Shakti over the Arabian Sea.

According to the IMD, these areas are likely to experience thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days. People have been advised to stay indoors as much as possible and follow safety guidelines to avoid problems caused by bad weather.

The IMD has also warned that coastal regions like Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg may see strong winds blowing at speeds of 55 to 65 km per hour, which could increase if the cyclone becomes stronger. Interior areas such as Marathwada, East Vidarbha, and North Konkan are also expected to receive heavy rainfall.

Continuous rains could affect daily life and cause crop damage in some regions. Fishermen have been told not to venture into the sea and to avoid fishing activities until the situation improves.

The Maharashtra government has instructed all district administrations to stay alert and take necessary precautions. Disaster management teams have been asked to be on standby, and evacuation plans are being prepared for people living in low-lying or flood-prone areas.
