Belagavi to Host 10-Day Winter Session of Karnataka Legislature from December 8.

The Karnataka cabinet has approved holding the winter session of the state legislature in Belagavi. The session will be held for 10 days, starting from December 8.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil announced that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been given the authority to take the final decision on the exact schedule and other arrangements.

Three Important Committees Asked to Speed Up Work

Patil also informed that three cabinet sub-committees have not submitted their reports for more than six months. The cabinet has now asked them to finish their work quickly.

Here is what each committee is working on:

1. Committee on COVID-19 Medicine Procurement

This committee is studying the report of Justice John Michael D’Cunha.

The report examines how medicines and medical equipment were purchased during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The committee needs to check if there were any issues and suggest action if required.

2. Committee on Financial Condition of Universities

This committee is reviewing the financial health of Karnataka’s universities.

It will study their funds, expenses, problems, and suggest solutions to improve their financial situation.

3. Committee on Bengaluru–Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor

This committee is examining developments related to the Bengaluru–Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMIC).

It will recommend what steps should be taken next for the project.

Committee Leadership

The first two committees (COVID procurement and university finances) are headed by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.

The third committee (BMIC project) is headed by the Home Minister.

Cabinet’s Instruction

Minister Patil said the cabinet has instructed all three committees to submit their reports as soon as possible, although no fixed deadline has been given.
