34-Member Belagavi City Corporation Team to Visit Indore for Study Tour.

A team of 34 members from the Belagavi City Corporation will visit Indore for a five-day study tour from November 16 to 20. The group will travel by flight from Goa, and the tour is organized under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0.
The total estimated cost of the trip is ₹30 lakh, and Health Officer Dr. Sanjeev Nandre will lead the team.

The team includes:

4 pourakarmikas (cleaners)

2 supervisors

13 health inspectors

2 junior engineers

1 executive engineer

1 assistant executive engineer

2 environmental engineers

and other staff

Selecting the four pourakarmikas was difficult, but the department finally chose newly recruited workers from both North and South zones. For a few of them, this will be their first time traveling by air.

Purpose of the Visit

During the tour, the team will study Indore’s famous cleanliness systems, including:

Solid waste management

Sewage treatment plants

Door-to-door garbage collection

Waste segregation methods

Indore’s hour-to-hour cleaning schedule

Last month, a group of corporators had also visited Indore. Even though opposition corporators did not join, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Standing Committee members took part. After returning, they shared ideas on how Belagavi can follow Indore’s cleanliness model. Some corporators even started cleanliness drives in their own wards.

This new study tour for health officials and staff has been organised so that they can personally observe Indore’s system and help improve Belagavi’s cleanliness.
