₹1,000 Annual Fee Planned for Traders in New Vending Zones.

The Belagavi City Corporation has proposed two new vending zones—one at Kotwal Galli and another at Nargundkar Bhave Chowk. Both are in the northern part of the city.
Once the government approves the plan, ₹2.5 crore will be released to develop these areas.

Belagavi has about 8,000 registered street vendors, but only these two locations are being taken up right now because earlier plans in South Belagavi faced objections.

What Traders Will Pay

No daily rent

Only ₹1,000 per year as a fixed fee

In return, the Corporation will provide:

Market stalls

Electricity

Water supply

Toilets

Concerns and Pending Steps

Some residents of Kotwal Galli have already opposed setting up a vending zone there. This makes the project’s feasibility uncertain.

As per government rules (2016), a committee must be formed including:

A corporator

Representatives of traders
This committee has not yet been formed and will be set up only after government approval.

The Corporation has also not clarified whether:

Only the current vendors at these locations will get stalls, or

New vendors will also be allowed.
